The Science Department faculty is:
With our scientific knowledge ever evolving and growing, what were “the basics” for most of this century are no longer adequate as we approach the millennium. If “the basics” can include scientific reasoning, how the world works, what mathematicians do, and how our technological world relates to society, then let’s go forward to the basics. The basis of our program comes from research provided by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Their publication Benchmarks for Science Literacy urges communities to challenge students to become part of a scientifically literate society. Our science program is intended for all students. Differences in student background, learning styles and intellectual ability are incorporated into the instructional process. The National Science Teachers Association’s Scope Sequence and Coordination Project encourages communities to require a science program for all students at every grade from kindergarten through at least grade 10. Our offerings go even further; we strongly recommend that all students complete a minimum of three years of science. No student should be deprived of the opportunity to know what human enterprise can accomplish.
